Windows Defender Offline (Beta)
It's still a beta version but we can try it right away. The offline variant of Microsoft's own defender is a tool we can transfer, save to a CD, DVD or USB stick, and then boot a computer directly from that media. The idea is to analyze and clean the computer without any malware taking hold of the system at Windows startup.
It's probably very obvious but it's important to ensure that the transfer and installation of the program is held in a machine that is not itself infected with some form of malware.
I think this software can be especially useful for teams who are responsible for maintaining several workstations, in situations where there are doubts regarding the health of these machines: Booting from one of these CDs, a freshly burned CD, and then analyzing it in a separate execution context.
Want to give it a try? It's available at Microsoft's own space at windows.microsoft.com/...
